Extreme Heat, Football, and Vladimir Putin

Get ready for some football because it's that time of the year again!

As much as I love this season, the scorching heat in Austin and Houston has made it hard to feel the excitement in the air. I mean, who can think about football when you're walking four blocks in unbearable heat? But hey, it's been a long summer.

News:

Let's talk about Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner mercenaries in Ukraine. This guy thought he could overthrow Putin, but then changed his mind. Seriously, if you're going up against Putin, why go to Belarus? Should've gone to the moon or Mars, somewhere he'd have a fighting chance. But of course, two months later, his plane blows up. It's obvious Putin had something to do with it.

He's ruthless, poisoning people who escape to London and showing no mercy. Speaking of the moon, India just landed there! Joining the US, Russia, and China in the exclusive lunar landing club. It's incredible what we're achieving in space exploration.

But let's not forget about football.

I stayed up late watching the Louisiana Tech vs. Florida International game. It was a great start to the season, with Louisiana Tech coming back and winning 22-17. And I was planning to watch USC vs. San Jose, but apparently, you had to pay to watch it. Come on, PAC 12, get it together! Now, let's talk about some mind-boggling records in football history.

Did you know that a UTEP quarterback in 1966 threw six consecutive touchdown passes in one game? Unbelievable! And what about Barry Sanders and his brother Byron gaining a total of 3,690 yards in 1988? That's some serious family talent right there. But not all records are impressive.

Take the University of Arkansas punting the ball 39 times in a game in 1948. Who punts that much? And what about Michigan's quarterback throwing four interceptions in a row in 2012? I mean, seriously, why didn't they pull him out of the game? Let's not forget about the Auburn vs. LSU game in 1996. Despite the field house catching fire during the game, the fans stayed put and watched the game.

So, my friends, let's enjoy the start of football season, cheer for our favorite teams, and try not to break any records (unless they're the good kind). And remember, don't wear silly t-shirts to court or drink and drive. Stay safe and have fun!
